Get to know me!
Jeremy LeMahieu is best known for his ephemeral installations emphasizing the cyclical structure of improving one’s self. To make the conceptual installations, materials are bought from home improvement stores and installed in transitional spaces such as vacant lots. The installations are documented and then disassembled. The materials are repackaged and ultimately returned to the store for recirculation.
His work has been shown across the US.
Jeremy LeMahieu was the Clayton County teacher of the year in 2017. He currently teaches high school art at the Martha Ellen Stilwell School of the Arts in Jonesboro, Georgia. He is a leader in his profession with his development of curriculum and pedagogical practices in digital instruction. He has been teaching since 2006. Jeremy received his MFA at the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2016 and his BA in Art Education from Bethel University, St. Paul MN in 2006.
In both teaching and art-making, Jeremy hopes to open new ways for people to understand the systems in which they operate. In teaching, he pushes students to develop a voice and participate in the manufacturing of their own worlds. His artwork likewise, participates in a constant shift between concept and materiality, permanence and impermanence, and choices in media by creating opportunities for new ways of seeing and experiencing work.
